Liang Sicheng was educated at Tsinghua University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Design. His father, Liang Qichao, was a well-known politician, writer, and prominent intellectual of early modern China.

Liang had several significant contributions to the field of architecture and urban planning, including his design for the Monument to the People's Heroes, a notable work in Chinese architecture. He also played a role in politics, both as a recognized architect and as a figure connected to his father.

Liang Sicheng's personal life included his marriage to a fellow architect and preservationist, Lin Huiyin, who also made significant contributions to the field of architecture. Together, they had a son, Liang Congjie, who became an important figure in the environmental movement in China.
