Julius Wagner-Jauregg (born March 7, 1857, Wels, Austria–died September 27, 1940, Vienna, Austria(6448082), was a physician, psychiatrist, politician, and professor. He was educated at the University of Vienna and held Austrian citizenship.
Wagner-Jauregg was a significant figure in the field of brain pathology in Austria. His doctoral advisor was Salomon Stricker, and he mentored doctoral students Wilhelm Reich and Alexandra Adler. He is widely known for his work on malariotherapy.
In 1927, Wagner-Jauregg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
