James I of Scotland (25 July 1394 – 21 February 1437) was a king, poet, writer, and politician from the Kingdom of Scotland. Born at Dunfermline Palace, he was the son of Robert III of Scotland and Anabella Drummond.

Throughout his reign, James I was known for being a King of Scots. He was also an accomplished poet and writer, contributing to the fields of literature and the arts during his time. James I was involved in politics as well, holding the position of a politician in the Kingdom of Scotland.

James I was married to Joan Beaufort, Countess of Westmorland. Together, they had several children, including James II of Scotland, Alexander Stewart (Duke of Rothesay), Margaret Stewart (Dauphine of France), Isabella of Scotland (Duchess of Brittany), Eleanor of Scotland, Joan Stewart (Countess of Morton), Annabella of Scotland, and Mary Stewart (Countess of Buchan).

James I of Scotland died on 21 February 1437 at Blackfriars, Perth.
