A native of Fulda, Hesse[2], Jamal started playing football at the academy of the German club "Lenerz". At the age of seven, Jamal moved with his parents to the UK, where he trained at the Southampton Football Academy. In 2011, he became a player at the Chelsea Football Academy. In July 2019, he returned to Germany, becoming a player at the Bayern Football Academy[3]. On June 3, 2020, he made his debut for Bayern II in a German Third League match against Preussen[4].
On June 20, 2020, he made his debut in the main squad of Bayern in a German Bundesliga match against Freiburg, coming on as a substitute for Thomas Muller[5]. He became the youngest Bayern debutant in the Bundesliga, entering the field at the age of 17 years and 115 days[6]. On February 23, 2021, he scored a goal in the match of the 1/8 final of the UEFA Champions League against Lazio, becoming the youngest Bayern player to score in this tournament[7].
