Ivanovo (in 1871-1932 — Ivanovo-Voznesensk) is a city (since 1871) in Russia on the banks of the Uvodi River, the administrative center of the Ivanovo region, forms the Ivanovo city district. The population is 401,505 people (2021). The head of the city is Sharypov V. N., since November 15, 2016.
There are seven universities in the city: polytechnic, chemical-technological, energy and Ivanovo State University, medical, agricultural and fire-rescue academy. Ivanovo is included in the list of cities of the Golden Ring of Russia, where Yu.A. Bychkov, the original creator of this tourist route, was not included, but later turned out to be there for ideological reasons, as having revolutionary traditions. By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated July 2, 2020, the city was awarded the title "City of Labor Valor".
