Henrik Dam (1895-1976) was a Danish biochemist, physician, chemist, and physiologist known for his discovery of vitamin K. Born and raised in Copenhagen, Dam studied at Technical University of Denmark and the University of Graz. He was a citizen of Denmark and spent most of his life working in his home country. Dam's work in the field of biochemistry led to him being awarded the 1943 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. He passed away in Copenhagen in 1976.
