George Derby (April 3, 1823 – May 15, 1861) was an American journalist, writer, and military officer. He was born in Dedham, Massachusetts, and was the son of John Derby.
Derby attended Phillips Academy and later graduated from the United States Military Academy. During his career, he worked as a journalist in the armed forces, reporting and writing for newspapers and journals, and was also an officer in the armed forces.
George Derby passed away on May 15, 1861, in New York City.
