Dario Fo (March 24, 1926 – October 13, 2016) was an Italian theatre director, screenwriter, composer, playwright, illustrator, poet, scenographer, writer, author, and costume designer. He was born in Sangiano and held citizenship in both the Kingdom of Italy and Italy. Fo was educated at Brera Academy and was known for his work in comedy.

During his life, Dario Fo had several notable works, including Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Elizabeth: Almost by Chance a Woman, Trumpets and Raspberries, The Pope and the Witch, Mistero Buffo, Archangels Don't Play Pinball, and Can't Pay? Won't Pay. In 1997, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Dario Fo was the father of Jacopo Fo, also an accomplished artist and writer. Fo passed away in Milan on October 13, 2016.
