Funding Round attributes
ChurchSpace, a technology startup founded in 2021 by Emmanuel Brown and Day Edwards, has secured $1.2 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round. The round was led by Black Ops Ventures, with additional participation from Dug Song of Minor Capital and Michigan Rise.
The company, originally based in Houston, Texas, is relocating its national headquarters to Detroit, Michigan. This move aligns with ChurchSpace's mission to repurpose underutilized church spaces for community use, such as event hosting and micro-fulfillment centers.
ChurchSpace's platform enables churches to generate revenue by renting out facilities like fellowship halls and kitchens. In Texas, some churches using the platform have reportedly earned up to $100,000 annually, funds that have supported various community programs.
In partnership with the City of Detroit, ChurchSpace is launching a pilot program involving up to 15 churches. These churches will be equipped to serve as flexible event spaces and logistics hubs, aiming to enhance local commerce and community services.
