Christiaan Barnard

Christiaan Barnard was a South African physician, writer, and surgeon. He was born in Beaufort West on November 8, 1922 and held citizenship in South Africa. Barnard passed away in Paphos on September 2, 2001.

Barnard was educated at the University of Cape Town and the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities). He had five children: Frederick Barnard, Lara Barnard, Andre Barnard, Armin Barnard, Deirdre Barnard, and Christiaan Barnard Jr..
