Anatoly Georgievich Skurov (born December 7, 1952 , Tula region , RSFSR , USSR ) is a mining engineer, design scientist, entrepreneur
Anatoly Skurov was born on December 7, 1952 in the Tula region [1] . Currently lives in Moscow.
In 1975, he graduated from the Mining Department of the Tula Polytechnic Institute and began working at the Kopeysk Machine-Building Plant ( Chelyabinsk Region ), the main manufacturer of mining equipment in the USSR and the Russian Federation. In 1988 he was appointed to the position of head of the Special Design Bureau - chief designer of the plant. He supervised the testing and implementation of mining equipment at the mines of Kuzbass, Donbass and Kazakhstan, was a member of the interdepartmental commissions of the USSR Ministry of Coal Industry. One of the creators of the most massive and efficient heading machine (GPKS) in the USSR and the Russian Federation [1] [4] .
Author of 41 patents and copyright certificates for inventions in the coal industry. In 1991 he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the creation of efficient mining equipment. Author of many scientific publications [4] .
In the early 1990s, he was involved in reforming the coal industry in Russia [5] . Honorary worker of the coal industry of Russia, awarded the sign "Miner's Glory" of three degrees, honorary miner of Kuzbass. Active member of the Academy of Mining Sciences of Russia [4] .
In 1994, he was transferred from the Kopeysk Machine-Building Plant to the state company Rosugol to the position of chief designer of the coal engineering department [1] [4] .
In 1995, together with the employees of Kuznetskugol, Anatoly Smolyaninov and Valentin Bukhtoyarov, he organized the Sibuglemet company and was its general director until 2003 [1] .
In 2003, he became president of the Sibuglemet holding [1] . This holding was Skurov's main asset until 2013.
Since 2011, he has been one of the shareholders of OAO Uralkali [1] [ 6] [7] [4] . In May 2012, he acquired a controlling stake in the Kopeysk Machine-Building Plant. This acquisition almost completely provided Uralkali with its own mining equipment [8] .
In 2013, the assets of the companies belonging to the Sibuglemet holding were sold by Skurov to a pool of investors [1] .
In 2010, he entered the Forbes magazine rating for the first time , taking 86th place among the richest businessmen in Russia with a fortune of 800 million US dollars. In 2011, he took 43rd place in the Forbes magazine rating with a fortune of $2.3 billion. At the end of 2012, he took 64th place in the Forbes rating with a fortune of $1.7 billion
