  • AirGarage is a parking lot operating company, based in San Francisco. It was founded in 2017 in Tempe, Arizona, with the original idea being that people can rent out their driveways to college students looking to save money on parking. A year and some change in, they pivoted their model to targeting parking lots of churches around the outskirts of Arizona State University. They marketed to the churches as a way to make money off of their lots. This model is the one they stuck with, as they expand across the country to help unlock the value of parking lots everywhere.

    Background

Jonathon, Scott, And Chelsea were all ASU students before they dropped out and moved to SF in 2018 to work full time on AirGarage. They got their initial funding from several pitch competition put on by ASU and their program, Venture Devils. This got them up and running, but the bigger opportunity was in SF so they made the move. Jonathon and Scott originally met eachother back in 2015, as they both were awarded the Flinn Scholarship to ASU, one of the most prestigious scholarships a student can get. When they launched AirGarage in 2017, they immediately got tons of press from local papers and ASU.

AirGarage had many offices in Arizona before leaving to SF, the last one being The Wayne Smith, a coworking space in Tempe. There, they shared offices with Jason Calacanis funded startup, PubLoft, before moving to SF.

    Product Features

    - Collect payments via phone, text, or credit card, over web or app. Let people pay with credit card, Apple Pay, mobile wallets, and more. No app download required.

    - No expensive hardware installation. Parking machines break down from wear and tear, intentional damage, and require ongoing maintenance contracts. Never miss a payment with AirGarage.

    - No set up costs, no fees. No setup fees or installation costs. We operate purely on a revenue share model.

    - Automated enforcement. Our network of enforcers is available nationwide. They scan plates, report who is parking legally, and immobilize violators who aren't.

    - Know who is in your lot. Register visitors and guests, let the public pay for parking, and see it all on your AirGarage Dashboard

    Geographies

Right now, AirGarage has a major presence in Arizona, Colorado, California, Texas, and Pennsylvania. They are now hiring city launchers to enable them to reach higher scale.

    Launch Accelerator

The LAUNCH Accelerator selects 7 startups for each session. Program participants meet every Thursday and hear from a notable speaker and pitch top Silicon Valley investors. The LAUNCH team selects founders who are executing at an extremely high level in markets that are important. We look for world-class product design, traction, revenue, and technical execution -- said simply, people with skills and products that people love. We seek individuals who are deeply passionate and who possess a tremendous work ethic.

All of the founders we accept have a solid product in market. At least half of the startups we accept have significant traction and revenue. We do not invest in business plans, decks, or ideas -- ever. Occasionally we will accept a wildcard who has an MVP but little or no traction.

LAUNCH: Supporting Founders and Inspiring Innovation.

    Article  (+973 characters)

Our mission at LAUNCH has always been to support founders and inspire innovation. Since 2009 (the year our founder Jason Calacanis started this conference in Silicon Valley), we've had the great pleasure of providing value to the startups & founders that we come across. The value comes in many different forms, such as:

Funding: By hosting events, we’re able to meet founders of many amazing startups that we often invite to our accelerator in San Francisco, and invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into them. To date, we've invested in over 200 startups. Our notable investments include Uber, Robinhood, Thumbtack, Desktop Metal, Wealthfront, DataStax, Calm, Tumblr, Trello.

Education: We’ve been hosting a 2x weekly podcast called This Week In Startups with 60M+ downloads, and have brought on guests such as Ev Williams, Chris Sacca, Chamath Palihapitiya, Patty McCord, Brit Morin, Esther Dyson, David Sacks & many more notable founders and investors.w:
