NeuCoin was founded in February 2015 by Daniel Kaufman. It aims to achieve mainstream consumer adoption via games, microtransactions, and social media. NeuCoin raised $1.25 million in venture capital and angel funding. The project raised $4,012 in Bitcoin from retail investors via an Initial Coin Offering and $2.25 million of pre-sale funding from 2.5 billion pre-mine coins sales.
Neucoin (market ticker symbol NEU) aims to be the first cryptocurrency that uses proof-of-stake consensus as a security model. It is a combined proof-of-stake/proof-of-work mining system that gives a better mining model and more adaptive response to rapid changes in network computation power.
