Biography and career:
Ivan Dryomin was born on April 8, 1997 in Ufa. Russian by nationality [source not specified 206 days]. His parents divorced when he was not yet a year old. His father, Timofei Dryomin, was born in 1968, in the 1980s he was a black marketer in Leningrad, in the 1990s he owned tents and cafes in Ufa, and now works as a loader. After the divorce, the mother “hit Orthodoxy”, began to devote a lot of time to the church. There is an older brother Bogdan born in 1992. Both baptized, the sons stood with their mother for long hours of morning and evening services. When Ivan went to the eighth grade, his mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia, she was in a psychiatric hospital for a year and now lives with a disability, on haloperidol injections [3].
He studied at Lyceum No. 5 of the city of Ufa [1] [4]. He studied extremely poorly, with deuces, did not get along with classmates [5]. Until the seventh grade, he studied at a music school, later he went in for boxing, received medals in city competitions [3]. Since childhood, he loved music, dreamed of being like his favorite performers: Viktor Tsoi, Zemfira, King and Jester, Tokio Hotel [5].
In his youth, he was a lot of hooligans, was a member of many street associations (radical ultras of nationalist views, AUE) and was a regular at local police stations[6][7][8], which he mentioned more than once in his songs.
He received a secondary education and, according to the results of the Unified State Examination, did not enter any university[3], since there were not enough points to enter the budget, and it was not possible for his family to pay for the contract form of education[8]. After Dryomin got a job at a hotel as an assistant administrator, but after working for only one day, he realized that this was not for him, and left[8]. At some point, I decided to take music seriously. After he attended the Pharaoh concert in Ufa, Dryomin realized that he wanted to be on stage, not under it [3].
Together with his older brother Bogdan, he came up with the nickname Face, which, according to Dryomin himself, characterizes his diversity and constant metamorphoses in his work.
Dryomin suffers from panic attacks. He was treated in a psychiatric hospital for two weeks[8].
Also, Ivan was not taken into the army due to tattoos on his face and a number of diseases [9].
On March 12, 2022, having supported Ukraine in the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine, he completed his activities in Russia and left it, declaring his intention not to return, as he noted in his Instagram account and many other social networks. Also, in particular, this decision was due to personal disagreement with the vector of development of Russia's domestic policy and attacks from those who support the Russian government[10].
2015: beginning of a musical career
I recorded my first song in 2015, a month before graduation, with my grandmother's money[3]. Already in October, he released his first mini-album "Cursed Seal". The disc includes six songs: "Sharingan", "Gosha Rubchinsky", "Rock Star", "Cursed Seal", "Suicide" and the bonus track "Slacker". The artist himself described his debut as “the thoughts of a teenager”[8].
2016: "Gosha Rubchinsky" and the first success
For the first time, they started talking about Dryomin after the video for the track “Gosha Rubchinsky” [11] [5], the budget of which was 200 rubles [8]. The rapper has featured in such English-language fashion and style publications as Highsnobiety and Hypebeast[12][13]. As the rapper admitted later, he knew in advance that the song would become at least a local hit, and wrote it "to hype" [14].
March 7, 2016 releases the mini-album Vlone (5 songs), June 9 - Mayhem (3 songs), July 25 - Playboy (4 songs).
2017: "Burger" and studio albums
On January 13, 2017, the Revenge mini-album (8 songs) was released.
On April 8, 2017, on his 20th birthday, Ivan releases his debut studio album Hate Love. It included 16 tracks, not counting one bonus track. The song "Lisa" used an unlicensed sample from "Conditions" by Squirrel Flower, which led to the third track being taken from the album. In this album, Face makes its first attempts to express its personal position[15]. In the song “Your Warm Bed”, Ivan condemns people who do not care about anything but their existence within four walls[15], and in “I'm Normal”, he satirically tries on the role of a middle manager, “incapable of acting and living with someone else's mind” [fifteen]. A separate consideration is the song "Ten Pensions", in which the rapper describes his well-being with a very original measure[15].
It was after the release of Revenge and Hate Love Face that it became widely known in youth circles [6].
In many songs, the rapper has the name Lisa. This is the girl with whom Dryomin was unrequitedly in love at school. The girl is currently working as an architect. Her face is featured on the cover of the artist's big debut[6].
On August 6, 2017, he presented his first professional video "Burger"[16].
On September 10, 2017, the premiere of the album No Love took place, the recording on VKontakte with which collected 14.3 million views, 378 thousand likes and 35 thousand reposts[17][18]. It includes 9 tracks and one bonus track. "These are the thoughts of a man in deep depression.
