After the end of the 2018–19 season, controlling owner Robert Pera announced a restructuring of the Grizzlies' basketball operations department: "In order to put our team on the path to sustainable success, it was necessary to change our approach to basketball operations". J. B. Bickerstaff was relieved from his dutiesJ. B. Bickerstaff was relieved from his duties as head coach and general manager Chris Wallace was reallocated to a role exclusively in player scouting. Jason Wexler was announced as Team President and Zachary Kleiman was promoted to general manager/EVP of Basketball Operations.

The team was originally established as the Seattle SuperSonics, an expansion team that joined the NBA for the 1967–68 season. The SuperSonics relocated from Seattle, Washington to Oklahoma City in 2008 after a settlement was reached between the ownership group led by Clay Bennett and lawmakers in Seattle following a lawsuit. In Seattle, the SuperSonics qualified for the NBA playoffs 22 times, won their division six times, advanced to three NBA Finals, and won the 1979 NBA Championship. In Oklahoma City, the Thunder qualified for their first playoff berth during the 2009–10 seasonfirst playoff berth during the 2009–10 season. They won their first division title as the Thunder in the 2010–11 season and their first Western Conference championship as the Thunder in the 2011–12 season, appearing in the NBA Finals for the fourth time in franchise history and first time since 1996, when the team was based in Seattle. The team has yet to win a championship since moving to Oklahoma City.

Bruce McLaren Motor RacingBruce McLaren Motor Racing was founded in 1963 by New Zealander Bruce McLaren. Bruce was a works driver for the British Formula One team Cooper with whom he had won three Grands Prix and come second in the 1960 World Championship. Wanting to compete in the Australasian Tasman Series, Bruce approached his employers, but when team owner Charles Cooper insisted on using 1.5-litre Formula One-specification engines instead of the 2.5-litre motors permitted by the Tasman rules, Bruce decided to set up his own team to run him and his prospective Formula One teammate Timmy Mayer with custom-built Cooper cars.

He also received the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award that year. He subsequently won the 2017 FIA Formula 3 European ChampionshipFIA Formula 3 European Championship. He was a member of the McLaren Young Driver ProgrammeMcLaren Young Driver Programme.

In 2014, Norris made his car racing debut in the Ginetta Junior ChampionshipGinetta Junior Championship, a support series to the British Touring Car ChampionshipBritish Touring Car Championship. He finished third in the championship, winning four races and claiming the Rookie Cup. For 2015, Norris signed with Carlin MotorsportCarlin Motorsport to drive in the newly established MSA Formula ChampionshipMSA Formula Championship (now known as the F4 British Championship). Norris took eight wins, ten pole positions, and fourteen total podiums to win the championship ahead of Ricky Collard and Colton Herta. He also made occasional appearances in the ADAC and Italian Formula 4 championships with Mücke Motorsport where he claimed six podiums from eight starts in the former.

The Los Angeles Clippers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Clippers compete in the National Basketball AssociationNational Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Pacific Division in the league's Western Conference. The Clippers play their home games at Crypto.com Arena, which they share with NBA team Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey LeagueNational Hockey League (NHL). The Clippers plan to move into their own arena, the Intuit Dome, in nearby Inglewood by 2024.

The franchise was founded as the Buffalo BravesBuffalo Braves in 1970 as an expansion team. Despite this success, the Clippers struggled in the postseason and were frequently eliminated in the Conference Semifinals; the team reached the Conference Finals for the first time in 2021. To date, they are the league's oldest franchise to have never played in the NBA Finals.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are an American professional basketball team based in Oklahoma City. The Thunder's NBA G League affiliate is the Oklahoma City Blue, which it owns. The Thunder are the only team in the major professional North American sports leagues based in the state of Oklahoma. The New Orleans Pelicans are an American professional basketball team based in New Orleans. The Pelicans were established as the New Orleans Hornets in the 2002–03 season, when George ShinnGeorge Shinn, then owner of the Charlotte Hornets, relocated the franchise to New Orleans. Due to the damage caused by Hurricane KatrinaHurricane Katrina in 2005, the team temporarily relocated to Oklahoma City, where they spent two seasons as the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets before returning to New Orleans for the 2007–08 season. In 2013, the Hornets announced that they would change their name to the New Orleans Pelicans after the 2012–13 season. The Charlotte Hornets' name, history, and records from 1988 to 2002 were returned to its original city to be used by the Charlotte Bobcats, who subsequently became the Charlotte Hornets in 2014.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are an American professional basketball team based in Minneapolis. The Timberwolves compete in the National Basketball AssociationNational Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Western Conference Northwest Division. Founded in 1989, the team is owned by Glen TaylorGlen Taylor who also owns the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx. The Timberwolves play their home games at Target Center, their home since 1990.

Like most expansion teams, the Timberwolves struggled in their early years, but after the acquisition of Kevin GarnettKevin Garnett in the 1995 NBA draft, the team qualified for the playoffs in eight consecutive seasons from 1997 to 2004. Despite losing in the first round in their first seven attempts, the Timberwolves won their first division championship in 2004 and advanced to the Western Conference Finals that same season. Garnett was also named the NBA Most Valuable Player for that season. The team then went into rebuilding mode for more than a decade after missing the postseason in 2005, and trading Garnett to the Boston Celtics in 2007. Garnett returned to the Timberwolves in a February 2015 trade and finished his career there, retiring in the 2016 offseason. The Milwaukee Bucks are an American professional basketball team based in Milwaukee. The Bucks compete in the National Basketball AssociationNational Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference Central Division. The team was founded in 1968 as an expansion team, and play at Fiserv Forum. Former U.S. Senator Herb KohlHerb Kohl was the long-time owner of the team, but on April 16, 2014, a group led by billionaire hedge fund managers Wes Edens and Marc Lasry agreed to purchase a majority interest in the team from Kohl, a sale which was approved by the owners of the NBA and its Board of Governors one month later on May 16. The team is managed by Jon Horst the team's former director of basketball operations, who took over from John Hammond.

The Bucks have won two league championships (1971, 2021), three conference titles (Western: 1971, 1974, Eastern: 2021), and 16 division titles (1971–1974, 1976, 1980–1986, 2001, 2019–2021). They have featured such notable players as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson, Bob Dandridge, Sidney Moncrief, Bob Lanier, Glenn Robinson, Ray Allen, Khris Middleton, Giannis AntetokounmpoGiannis Antetokounmpo, and Jrue Holiday among others. The Miami Heat are an American professional basketball team based in Miami. It Takes Two is an action-adventure platform game developed by Hazelight StudiosHazelight Studios and published by Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in March 2021. Like Hazelight's debut title A Way OutA Way Out, the game does not have a single-player option; it is playable only in either online or local split screen cooperative multiplayer between two players. It Takes Two received generally favorable reviews from critics and won multiple year-end accolades, including the The Game AwardThe Game Award for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021. It sold 3 million copies by October 2021.

GTFO had its initial release on December 9, 2019, for Microsoft Windows, on Steam's Early Access to a positive user reception. The game was officially released 2 years later, on December 10, 2021, during The Game AwardsThe Game Awards 2021.

GTFO received a warm reception at The Game Awards 2017. A year later, it received an accolade as the Best Cooperative Game at E3 2018 from the website DualShockersDualShockers. Other sites such as Rock Paper ShotgunRock Paper Shotgun and Gamereactor praised it for its horror, atmosphere and gameplay, both considering it among the best games of E3 2018, and considering the game horrifying from their gameplay previews.

The game was nominated in "The Best Game You Suck At" category at the 2020 Steam AwardsSteam Awards.
