Leonard Adleman was born on December 31, 1945, in California. He holds citizenship in the United States. Adleman is known for his work as a computer scientist, mathematician, programmer, and professor. He earned his education at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California Botanical Garden.
Leonard Adleman is a co-founder of RSA Security and had Manuel Blum as his doctoral advisor. One of his known doctoral students is Kireeti Kompella. Adleman is particularly known for his works on DNA computing and the Adleman–Pomerance–Rumely primality test.
Throughout his career, Adleman has received several awards recognizing his contributions to the field. In 2002, he was awarded the Turing Award. He was also inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2018.
