ZenCash, now known as Horizen, was a decentralized cryptocurrency platform founded by Ron Vigione and William Wolf in 2017. ZenCash offered secure and completely anonymous money transfer and communication platform powered by the ZenCash (ZEN) cryptocurrency.

The re-branding of ZenCash to Horizen was based off of research on the cryptocurrency market including Horizen community members, miners, node operators, investors, and employees. The project came to the conclusion after analyzing their finding that re-branding ZenCash to Horizen reinforces the companies commitment to creating community-focused products.

Funding for the development of Horizen is generated by miners. 20% of block rewards goes into the Horizen treasury.
