Josep (PEP) Guardiola, Maria and Fat[4] (cat. Josep Guardiola i Sala Catalan pronunciation: [ʒuˈzɛb ɡwəɾðiˈɔlə]; b. January 18 1971[1][2][3], Sanpedor, Catalonia)[5][6] is a Spanish football coach who previously played as a midfielder. The head coach of the English club Manchester City. He is often considered one of the greatest coaches of all time, he holds the record for the number of consecutive matches won in La Liga, Bundesliga and Premier League[7][8]. The most decorated coach in the history of Barcelona and Manchester City[9].
He played as a defensive midfielder. He spent most of his career at Barcelona, becoming part of Johan Cruyff's "Dream Team" that won the first European Cup in 1992 and four Spanish League titles from 1991 to 1994. Subsequently, he was the captain of the team from 1997 until his departure from the club in 2001. Then Guardiola played in the Italian clubs Brescia and Roma, the Qatari Al-Ahli and the Mexican Dorados de Sinaloa. He played 47 times for the Spanish national team, participated in the 1994 World Cup, as well as in Euro 2000. He also played in friendly matches for the Catalan national team. As a player, Guardiola is a six-time champion of Spain, a two-time winner of the Spanish Cup, a four-time winner of the Spanish Super Cup, a winner of the European Champions Cup, a winner of the Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, with the national team he became an Olympic champion.
In 2007, he began his coaching career, heading Barcelona B. In the first season, the club rose to the first line of the fourth division and moved to the third [10]. From 2008[11] to 2012[12] Guardiola was the coach of the main squad of the Catalans. In his first season as a first-team coach, he led Barcelona to victory in the championship, the Spanish Cup and the UEFA Champions League. At the same time, he became the youngest manager to win the aforementioned European tournament. In 2011, after Guardiola led the club to another double in La Liga and the Champions League, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Catalan Parliament[13]. In 2009[14] and 2011[15], Guardiola became the best club coach in the world. In 2013, Pep took charge of Bayern Munich[16], signing a contract until June 2016[17]. Guardiola won the Bundesliga every season, and also became the absolute champion of the country twice. In 2016, he left Bayern Munich for Manchester City and in his second season led the team to the Premier League title, breaking many records, becoming the first club to score 100 points. The following season, he won the Premier League and League Cup for the second time in a row, as well as the FA Cup, becoming the first coach to win the Treble in English men's football.
