WeChat is a China-based technology company that has developed a messaging service in the form of a mobile application or download. Its parent organization is Tencent Holdings and the service has been downloaded over a billion times.

The company's product is a platform that can be used to communicate with others via various modes, such as texting, voice messaging, and social media use. Other features include group chat for up to 500 people, a news feed, access to games, and a mobile payment feature. Users can also share their location with other users and send photos using the platform. Video calls can be made with up to nine participants in addition to the standard voice calling feature. There are also stickers in the form of movie and cartoon characters that can be added to text chats between users. There is also a feature, called WeChat Out, which allows for users to make calls to landlines and international lines. The platform is available via mobile application in both Android and iOS as well as Windows and Mac downloads.
