Produced from 1990 to 1998. Designed by Jan Wilsgaard. Appeared as a replacement for the Volvo 700 Series. Replaced in production in 1998 by the Volvo S80. In total, 668,046 cars were produced in various modifications.

Volvo 940- was introduced in September 1990 as a replacement for the Volvo 740. The station wagon appeared in May 1991. In 1994, the model underwent a slight restyling. Discontinued February 5, 1998. At the time of its release, the 940 was characterized by a high level of comfort and safety. A total of 246,704 sedans and 231,677 station wagons were produced.

Volvo 960- it was produced from the autumn of 1990, replacing the previous flagship model of the Volvo 760 brand on the assembly line. In 1994, it underwent the first restyling and was produced until the end of 1997, when, after the second restyling, it became known as the Volvo S90.
