Venture Catalyst from the University of California-Davis drives the development of startups and facilitates the translation of the University's research and technology. The initiative supports UC Davis-related startups through collaborations, programmatic activities, and outreach efforts.
Venture Catalyst collaborates with UC Davis stakeholders and resources to support campus entrepreneurs developing university technology into viable ventures. Some of these stakeholders and resources include the following:

- UC Davis Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Venture Catalyst manages three proof-of-concept programs that offer funding and resources to combine basic UC Davis research with commercial potential by demonstrating proof-of-concept and establishing market viability. Venture Catalyst accepts applications for the proof-of-concept programs from January to March. For seven cycles, the proof-of-concept programs have awarded about $2.2 million of funding to forty-nine projects, including the following:

START stands for Smart Toolkit for Accelerated Research Translation and it is a suite of programs that equip UC Davis entrepreneurs with the tools required to form and develop companies. The offerings of START™ Suite are open to all individuals and companies that have a UC Davis affiliation, like current faculty/student/staff and alumni.
The Biotech Innovation Gallery (BIG) Accelerator program offers UC Davis-associated startups with targeted mentoring and training around intellectual property and regulatory strategy including coaching on business models, market analysis, and investor pitches. The accelerator program operates from August to January and ends with the Biotech Innovation Gallery Open House, a showcase and networking event that provides a platform for UC Davis innovators to showcase their emerging biotech companies.
