History

The company was founded on March 4, 2005 as OGK-4. In 2007-2008, a controlling stake was acquired by the international energy concern E.ON, on June 24, 2011, the general annual meeting of shareholders of the company decided to rename it to E.ON.HE is Russia", on July 8, a record of the renaming was entered in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

Since January 1, 2016, after the separation of the new international company Uniper from the E.ON concern, JSC "E.ON Russia became part of it and in June 2016 was renamed PJSC Unipro.

The main shareholder of Unipro - the Uniper concern - occupies a leading position in the sector of traditional electricity generation. The company operates in Europe, Russia and a number of other countries of the world. Uniper includes hydro, gas and coal-fired power plants with a total capacity of 40 GW. Thanks to these key assets and the use of various types of fuel, Uniper is a major reliable supplier of electric energy, much of which is produced using environmentally friendly technologies, for example, at gas and hydroelectric power plants.

In 2010-2011, the company commissioned 4 new combined-cycle power units with a total capacity of 1600 MW at Surgutskaya GRES-2, Shaturskaya GRES and Yayvinskaya GRES, and also increased the capacity of Berezovskaya GRES by 100 MW, thanks to the modernization of equipment. With the commissioning in 2015 of an 800 MW pulverized coal power unit at Berezovskaya GRES, E.ON Russia (since June 2016 — PJSC Unipro) completed its investment program, increasing the total installed capacity by 2,400 MW.

In 2016, due to the re-labeling of 800 MW PSU power units, Surgut GRES-2 officially received a total capacity increase of 60 MW, and in 2019, SUGRES-2 increased the capacity of PSU unit No. 8 by 10 MW-400 MW.

In 2017, the gas turbine of the fifth PSU-400 power unit was upgraded at the Yayvinskaya GRES branch to increase the installed capacity by 24 MW.

In 2019, thanks to the modernization of the compressor of the gas turbine of the CCGT, the capacity increased by 6.6 MW (at the moment it is 400 MW).

Thus, as a result of the construction of new facilities and the implemented modernization program, today the total installed capacity of PJSC "Unipro" is 11,245 MW.

In March 2019, it became known that the Russian energy company Unipro, controlled by German Uniper, updated its dividend policy, promising shareholders a 40 percent increase in dividend payments, up to 20 billion rubles, in the next three years. The restart of the third power unit of the Berezovskaya GRES (800 MW), which receives increased payments from the energy market, will allow to increase the amount of payments. Analysts note that the growth of dividends in absolute terms will increase the yield of Unipro securities from the current 8% to 12%.

On April 9, 2021, at 07:39 Krasnoyarsk time, load tests with the supply of electricity to the Unified Energy System of Russia were completed at power unit No. 3 of the Berezovskaya GRES. Within the framework of this program, all the necessary tests were carried out, confirming the value of the maximum available capacity of 800 MW. The tests showed the readiness of the third unit of the Berezovskaya GRES for operation. Thus, PJSC "Unipro" completed repair and restoration work at the power unit No. 3 of the Berezovskaya GRES after the fire that occurred in 2016.

Operations

The main activity of Unipro is the production and sale of electric and thermal energy. The company has five GRES:

Surgut GRES-2 is the most powerful gas-fired power plant in the world, which generates about 40% of all electricity in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.

Berezovskaya GRES is a Russian power plant in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. It uses coal to generate electricity.

Shaturskaya GRES is one of the oldest power plants in the Moscow region. The main type of fuel is natural gas, but it can also use coal, fuel oil and peat.

Yayvinskaya GRES is a Perm power plant. It uses gas and coal to generate electricity.

Smolenskaya GRES is the smallest Unipro facility that runs on natural gas and coal. GRES produces 10% of all electricity in the Smolensk region.
