Tomsk State University

Established in 1878, Tomsk State University (TSU) is a public, not-for-profit, higher-education institution located in the city of Tomsk. The coeducational Russian higher education institution offers courses and programs, and students receive officially recognized higher education degrees like pre-bachelor degrees (certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees, and doctorate degrees in different areas of study.

The classical university is located in the Asian part of Russia. On the 28th of May, 1878, it was established by the decree of Emperor Alexander II as Imperial Tomsk University. Prominent figures affiliated with the university include two Nobel Prize Winners, thirty-one members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, about fifty State Prize winners, the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Academy of Sciences of the CIS.

There are about twenty faculties and educational institutes, twenty dissertation councils, and thirty-three scientific schools at Tomsk State University. The university also has a growing number of international students from seventy countries. Since 2006, Tomsk State University has been a member of the European University Association (EUA).
