Funding Round attributes
Struck, an Amsterdam-based startup founded in 2024, has raised €2 million in seed funding to expand its AI-driven platform for building regulation compliance, with the round led by Value Factory Ventures and participation from Antler and industry angels from construction and real estate. The company plans to use the capital to scale its product and accelerate rollout across Europe, extending beyond its current stronghold in the Netherlands.
Struck’s platform is designed to help architects, developers, and municipalities navigate complex building codes by providing instant insights into rules applicable to each project. The software will soon automatically verify whether designs meet legal and environmental standards, aiming to speed up permitting, reduce costs, and support more sustainable construction practices.
Co-founder Max van Riel emphasized the growing complexity of building regulations alongside the urgent need for faster, more sustainable construction, framing the company’s mission as simplifying and accelerating compliance. Since launch, Struck has become a leading compliance platform in the Netherlands, serving thousands of users across municipalities, builders, developers, and architects.
Key features include an extensive AI library of building codes and an automated permit-exemption checker, tools intended to digitize and automate checks that traditionally slow project timelines. Investor commentary underscored the sector’s sustainability imperative: Johan van Heusden, Managing Partner at Value Factory Ventures, noted that construction accounts for nearly 40% of global CO2 emissions while millions of new homes are still needed, arguing that the solution is to build smarter rather than slower.
With the new funding, Struck intends to expand into additional European markets where regulatory complexity continues to impede development, positioning its platform as infrastructure to streamline compliance and promote sustainable building at scale.
