Sally Ride

Sally Ride , also known as Sally Kristen Ride , was born on May 26, 1951, in Encino, Los Angeles . Ride was an astronaut , physicist , and writer . She was educated at various institutions, including Stanford University , Swarthmore College , Harvard-Westlake School , Birmingham High School , and the Los Angeles Unified School District .

Sally Ride authored the "Ride Report" and was the founder of Sally Ride Science . Throughout her accomplished career, she received several awards, such as the NCAA's Theodore Roosevelt Award and the NASA Space Flight Medal . Ride passed away on July 23, 2012, in La Jolla .
