Peter Weir

Peter Weir is an Australian film director and screenwriter born on August 21, 1944, in Sydney. His full birth name is Peter Lindsay Weir. Weir is a well-regarded figure in the film industry and has directed numerous memorable films, including "Gallipoli", "Green Card", "Witness", "The Truman Show", "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World", "Dead Poets Society", and "The Year of Living Dangerously".

He studied at Sydney Law School and the University of Sydney. He also attended Vaucluse High School. Throughout his career, Weir has received a multitude of awards for his work, including a BAFTA Award, an Akademie Science Fiction, Fantasy a Hororu award, and recognition from the Australian Film Institute.

In addition to directing, he has served on the board of directors for "Dead Poets Society", a film he also directed.
