Paul Douglas Coffey is a former professional ice hockey defenceman from Ontario, Canada. He was born on June 1, 1961 and played for nine teams in the National Hockey League.
Coffey's achievements include being named to the OHA Second All-Star Team in 1980 and winning the James Norris Memorial Trophy in 1985, 1986, and 1995. He was recognized several times in the NHL by being named to the First All-Star Team in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1995, and to the Second All-Star Team in 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1990.
In addition to his domestic success, Coffey also represented Canada internationally, winning the Canada Cup in 1984, 1987, and 1991 as part of Team Canada. He was named to the Canada Cup All-Star Team in 1984.
Coffey's contributions to ice hockey have been widely recognized. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2007, the Penguins Hall of Fame welcomed him as an inductee on November 15. The Hockey News ranked him number 28 on their list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players in 1998.
In his personal life, Paul Coffey has a partner named Stephanie and is the father to sons Christian and Blake, as well as daughter Savannah.
