Metomic

Metomic is a London based technology company providing user privacy management platform for standard privacy compliance such as GDPR. The company’s platform helps website owners to categorize cookies, manage privacy policies, and provide a convenient method for end users to customize their data flow.

Metomic’s Consent Manager is a web-based platform helping companies to identify privacy issues of their website to make them compliant with privacy regulations. To do this, the platform scans the website during the on-boarding process to find the presence of any non-consensual data collection methods used from public tracking domains. The user can categorize these domains into a specific category such as Essential, Marketing, Statistics, Live chat, Payments, Location, Sharing, and Others. The last step requires web developers to include a generated JavaScript code snippet into their website. Developers need to add an additional attribute to a ‘<script>’ HTML tag to represent its purpose on the website. The tags are used to control the use of cookies on the website granularly.

As of May 2019, users require basic web development knowledge to include the code snippet into their website. It is working on developing third-party plugins to help make installation more convenient. Metomic offers free limited usage of the platform for sites with less than 10,000 traffic per month.

The platform also tracks user consents acquired through the Metomic platform and is accessed through the application dashboard. If any policy change is made after an initial user consent, a new opt-in popup is shown to the user for consent.
