Martin Lewis Perl (born June 24, 1927; died September 30, 2014) was an American engineer and physicist who had United States citizenship. He was born in Manhattan and passed away in Palo Alto, California.
A well-educated individual, Perl studied at various institutions including Columbia University, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, and James Madison High School in Brooklyn. Throughout his career, he worked as both an engineer and a physicist.
Perl was a doctoral student of Isidor Isaac Rabi, a Nobel laureate, and played a mentoring role for another Nobel laureate, Samuel C. C. Ting, who was his doctoral student.
In recognition of his achievements, Martin Lewis Perl was awarded the 1995 Nobel Prize in Physics. His significant contributions to the field took place in the United States.
