Margaret II, Countess of Hainaut

Margaret II, Countess of Hainaut (1311-1356), was a German politician, Holy Roman Empress, Queen of Germany, Countess of Hainaut, and Countess of Holland. She was born in Germany to William I, Count of Hainaut and Joan of Valois, Countess of Hainaut. Margaret II was the daughter of William I, Count of Hainaut and the mother of several notable children, including Margaret of Bavaria, Duchess of Slavonia, William I, Duke of Bavaria, Agnes of Bavaria (nun), Albert I, Duke of Bavaria, Otto V, Duke of Bavaria, Louis II, Elector of Brandenburg, Beatrice of Bavaria, and Elisabeth of Bavaria (1478–1504).

During her lifetime, Margaret II held several roles, including being an Emperor, Queen consort, and Count. She was crowned Holy Roman Empress alongside her spouse in Rome, which gained her the title of Holy Roman Empress. Margaret II passed away on June 23, 1356, in Le Quesnoy.
