Ludwig van Beethoven (17 December 1770 – 26 March 1827) was a German composer, pianist, organist, and virtuoso. He was born in Bonn, Germany and later resided in Austria. Beethoven is most well-known for his work in the music industry.

Beethoven's notable compositions include Symphony No. 9, Fidelio, Piano Sonata No. 14, and Für Elise. Other significant works by Beethoven are Symphony No. 3, Missa solemnis, Symphony No. 6, Piano Sonata No. 23, and Symphony No. 5.

Beethoven is also the author of The Kreutzer Sonata, a composition for violin and piano. He held German nationality.

His parents were Johann van Beethoven and Maria Magdalena Keverich. Beethoven passed away in Vienna.
