Kalush is a Ukrainian rap band founded in 2019.
The band includes Oleg Psyuk (aka Cursing Son) - founder and soloist, Igor Didenchuk - multi-instrumentalist and MS Kilimmen. The band was named after Kalush, Oleg Psyuk's hometown.
The band's first music video for the song "Don't Marinate" was released on their official YouTube channel on October 17, 2019. The director of the video Delta Arthur is the director of many videos of Ukrainian rapper alyona alyona. The clip was shot on the streets of Kalush, and on the eve of the release of alyona alyona announced it on its own Instagram channel.
After the release of the second music video "You Chase" in November 2019, the band Kalush signed a cooperation agreement with the American hip-hop label Def Jam, which is part of the Universal Music Group.
On December 6, 2019, the band took part in the alyona alyona concert, performing "Mountains", "Don't Marinate" and "You're Chasing". And on December 9, a video for the song "Mountains" was released, which the band performed together with alyona alyona. In 12 days, the video garnered 1.2 million views on YouTube.
On February 19, 2021, the band's debut album, HOTIN, was released.
On July 23, 2021, Kalush and rapper Skofka released their second album, YO-YO.
In 2021 it became known about the launch of a parallel project - KALUSH Orchestra. Unlike the main band, this band will focus on rap with folk motifs and Ukrainian authenticity. Both groups have common members. Multi-instrumentalists Tymofiy Muzychuk and Vitaliy Duzhyk joined the participants of Oleg Psyuk (vocals, lyrics) Kilimmen (DJ) and Johnny Divny. Another musician, Igor Didenchuk, has played in KALUSH from the beginning and will now focus on the KALUSH Orchestra.
On February 12, 2022, the Kalush Orchestra project competed for the right to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song Stefania. In the final of the National Selection, the band took second place with 14 points (6 from the jury and 8 from the audience). However, the band still has a chance to represent the country in the competition due to the disqualification of the "winner" of the final - Alina Pash.
