He was born on September 20, 1976 in Washington, D.C., in a Jewish family. His father was a lawyer.
After high school, he went to Skidmore College, but soon dropped out and moved to Russia, where he studied acting at the Moscow Art Theatre School. In 2002, he returned to the U.S. and worked in theater for a long time.
First appeared on the screen as Lane Ruddock in an episode of Law & Order. Criminal Intent" (2002).
Many viewers are familiar with his roles as Sean Walsh in The Walking Dead (2010-2018) and antagonist Frank Castle in the Marvel Universe superhero series.
