If you like what we stand for and want to help us continue to champion women and girls, you can make a donation above.
Glasgow City is a football club for girls and women. We are unique, original, unparalleled and special and have been exclusively championing women and girls since we were formed in 1998 by Laura Montgomery and Carol Anne Stewart. Both women continue to run the club today.
Our founders grew up at a time when it was impossible for girls to play football and both had to wait until they were adults to play the game they love. They have helped change the landscape of the game in Scotland, and Glasgow City proudly has 12 Academy teams at all age groups, alongside our record breaking first team.
We are the most successful women’s club in Scotland and have won 15 SWPL 1 titles, including 14 in a row, a national record. We have also won more Scottish Cups than any other women’s side.
In Europe we continue to defy the odds. In 2008 we became the first Scottish side to ever progress from the qualifying group stage and since then have gone from strength to strength including reaching the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League twice.
Scotland reached its first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals in 2019, with five current and six former Glasgow City players as part of the squad. We have helped shape the game in Scotland and we are proud and honoured to have done so.
At a time where the majority of women’s clubs are part of multi million pound traditional male clubs, our achievements are even more remarkable.
We strongly believe our success is because we are Champions. We believe in our just cause and we vigorously support and defend what is important. What is important for us is equality for women, the opportunity and freedom for girls to do whatever they want to do in life and to have the belief that they can be successful at it. They will always be the most important team at our club.
Being a Champion is not always about winning, but is about succeeding
