Hulk is a graduate of the Brazilian clubs Sao Paulo and Vitoria. However, in Brazil, the footballer played only one official match, after which he moved to Japan. He made a name for himself with Porto, where he scored over 80 goals in 160 games. In the summer of 2012, he became a record transfer in the Russian Premier League, moving to Zenit for 60 million euros.In 2015, he became the champion of Russia, and also took the Russian Super Cup. In the summer of 2016, he was sold to the Chinese Shanghai SIPG, and in 2021 he moved to the Brazilian Atlético Mineiro.
