Among key outputs of this effort is maturation of the relay capable GIRD’s AJ LOS/BLOS Data Link and a reduction in the complexity and cost of the existing MVCS system. The revised system architecture design will be finalized and supporting material will be generated to facilitate future incorporation of GIRD’s AJ LOS solution within the MVCS program. One key architecture update will be integration of the BAC/RAC functionality within the GDR. Additionally, the hardware design of the GIRD-funded GDR will be revised to better support the needs of the MVCS program. This will include increasing the GDR output power, addition of RF ports to the mechanical design (eliminating the RF Switch Matrix from the current MVCS architecture) and increasing the digital processing capability. With the newly provided digital horsepower, the waveform layout will be optimized to provide improved anti-jam performance capabilities. In addition to eliminating the BAC, RAC and RF Switch Matrix, the RAB will be redesigned to better integrate with the newly developed AJ LOS/BLOS GDR. The program will culminate in a Seminal Test Event which will enable the AJ LOS/BLOS Radio to be adopted within version 1.3 of the MVCS program.
