Ernest Augustus, King of Hanover

Ernest Augustus, King of Hanover, was born on November 20, 1629, in Herzberg am Harz. He was the child of George, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and Anne Eleonore of Hesse-Darmstadt. Ernest Augustus had German nationality and was a citizen of Germany.

He was the ruler of the Principality of Lüneburg and held occupations as a politician, in the empire, and as a military personnel. Ernest Augustus was educated at the University of Göttingen.

Ernest Augustus was the father of several notable individuals, including George I of Great Britain, Maximilian William of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Ernest Augustus, Duke of York and Albany, Sophia Charlotte of Hanover, Sophia von Kielmansegg, Countess of Darlington, George V of Hanover, and Frederica of Hanover.

Ernest Augustus passed away on January 23, 1698, in Hanover.
