Einride, a Swedish technology company specializing in digital, electric, and autonomous solutions for road freight, has secured approximately $100 million in funding from a combination of existing and new investors. The investment comes at a time when the company is advancing its position in the freight sector, with the funds earmarked to support the scaling of its Saga platform, the deployment of autonomous vehicles, and further international expansion.
Established in 2016 in Sweden, Einride has built a freight ecosystem that incorporates one of the world's largest fleets of heavy-duty electric trucks, along with autonomous technology and the Saga planning optimization platform. The Saga platform combines digital planning tools with electric and autonomous vehicles to tackle key challenges in the freight industry, including operational fragmentation, elevated emissions, and labor shortages. This approach positions Einride as a provider of integrated solutions aimed at modernizing road freight operations.
The funding round includes participation from EQT Ventures, which remains one of Einride's largest shareholders. Additional investors comprise a global asset management company located on the West Coast of the United States and a strategic investment from IonQ, identified as the leading quantum company. Other investors and existing shareholders also contributed to the round. Ted Persson, a partner at EQT Ventures, commented on the investment by stating, “We believe Einride is building the most complete and forward-looking freight ecosystem on the market today.” He further noted, “Nordic tech has a habit of being underestimated, until it quietly rewires an entire industry. That’s exactly what Einride is doing in freight.”
The capital injection is intended to drive Einride's next growth phase, enabling the company to expand the rollout of its autonomous freight solutions, enhance technology development, and strengthen partnerships with customers. Roozbeh Charli, CEO of Einride, expressed appreciation for the support, saying, “I am excited and proud for the continued trust our investors have placed in us.” He added, “This funding allows us to grow with our customer base and accelerate the deployment of our autonomous freight technology. It’s a strong signal of confidence in both our team and our unique position in the market.”
This latest raise builds on a period of notable progress for Einride. In 2024, the company's net sales more than doubled, reflecting robust demand for its offerings. The firm also achieved successful market entries in Austria and the United Arab Emirates, while expanding its presence among global shippers in Europe and North America. These developments underscore Einride's efforts to address persistent issues in the freight sector through its electric and autonomous technologies.
The involvement of investors like EQT Ventures and IonQ highlights external recognition of Einride's contributions to Nordic deeptech, particularly in autonomous mobility. As the company deploys its Saga platform and electric truck fleet, it continues to focus on operational efficiency and sustainability in road freight. The funding provides resources to sustain this trajectory, supporting broader adoption of Einride's solutions amid industry-wide transitions.
