EVPassport is an electric vehicle hardware and software bundle. The company utilizes a subscription model and mobile application to allow customers to pay for electric vehicle charging at multiple locations.
EVPassport was formed by collaboration between Recharge and Smartcar. The company was formed in January 2018, after CEO and co-founder Aaron Fisher took a trip from New York City and realized electric vehicle charging access challenges. The company was previously known as Recharge Technologies Corporation.
EVPassport offers products and services for both electric vehicle charging providers and consumers. They offer hardware and software bundles for electric vehicle manufacturers to incorporate into their batteries, as well as charging station bundles for DC fast charge service providers and personal home user.
EVPassport key products
EVPassport has deals with multiple DC fast charger networks including Electrify America, EVgo, Chargepoint and Greenlots to allow customers their choice and flexibility to charge. Aside from access to these networks, the application removes the need to directly join these networks, skipping the need for multiple applications and RFID cards.
EVPassport's Ezra and Lyra chargers also include a one-year subscription to the EVPassport cloud membership platform, offering display locations in maps applications and real-time availability information.
The company announced July 1, 2020 it would deliver unlimited electric vehicle charging across multiple networks for $39 USD per month, starting in summer 2021. The application and service will be available for iOS to start, allowing access to about 2,500 DC chargers in the US. All Electrify America and EVgo stations are compatible with EVPassport, with half of ChargePoint and recently constructed Greenlot chargers offering network accessibility.
The service is targeted at individual consumers, and is not expected to be available for rideshare services like Lyft and Uber.
