Domain Associates is a private equity and venture capital firm that focuses on funding startups in the field of life sciences. The firm was founded in 1985 by Jesse I. Treu. Jim Blair has joined the firm since its inception and has remained as one of the firm’s partner as of February 2019. The firm’s current headquarters is located in New Jersey, but it also has offices in San Diego and Philadelphia.
In the past, the Domain Associates has invested in companies offering their business services in these fields: pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and medical devices. The firm has also financed companies seeking various stages of funding: from incubation-stage startups to companies already at the stage of emerging growth
As of February 2019, the firm has raised more than $2.8 billion throughout its funding series. Its last funding series was launched in December 2016, and it managed to obtain $163.6 million. In December 2003 and April 2009 respectively, the firm succeeded in acquiring $500 million for each funding series.
