Civitai is a developer of a content creation platform for stable diffusion artificial intelligence (AI) art models. The platform has a large collection of models users can choose from and customize further for the generation of AI art. It allows users to create images using written prompts or browse previously generated models. Users on Civitai's platform can browse and download their preferred models and embeddings with a search and filter feature to help users look for specific models or embeddings. The platform also scans all files uploaded for safety.

Users on Civitai are able to upload a series of images that represent a style they are interested in and then choose a base model—such as a standard model, anime model, or more realistic model— and after a period of time, the new model is ready to be used to generate new images in the new style. The images generated on-site include metadata that detail the prompts and resources used, among other details, and the platform encourages users developing models off-site to do similarly. Further, Civitai allows artists to flag images or resources they believe use their work without their consent.
