Bessie Smith

Bessie Smith (born April 15, 1894, in Chattanooga, Tennessee) was an American street artist, musician, mime artist, singer, and songwriter. Nicknamed the "Empress of the Blues," she was known for her work in jazz, blues, and blues rock genres. Smith was a citizen of the United States and was actively involved in the music and music industry.

Throughout her career, Bessie received numerous awards, including the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Sadly, she passed away on September 26, 1937, in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
