Based in Chicago, Avail was founded in 2012 to provide resources to landlords. Avail is available online and on a mobile app. Members can join the platform for free and create listings with help from Avail's help guides. The platform is used by landlords across the United States to perform the following:

• listing properties
• finding tenants
• offering online rental applications
• drafting leases
• signing leases
• performing credit, background, and eviction checks
• collecting rent online
• tracking rental income and expenses
• managing maintenance requests

Tenants can utilize the platform through a tenant portal to pay rent, report rent payments to credit bureaus, submit maintenance requests, and more.

The company had grown to around thirty employees before its acquisition by realtor.com in December of 2020.
