Arthur Freed (born Arthur Grossman) was an American film producer, composer, screenwriter, actor, lyricist, and songwriter. Born on September 9, 1894, in Charleston, South Carolina, Freed held citizenship in the United States. He also worked as a song plugger in the early part of his career.
Freed produced many Hollywood musicals and was the creator of the famous film Singin' in the Rain. He passed away in Los Angeles on April 12, 1973.
