Apache Airflow is an open-source, automated workflow orchestration platform used to manage task scheduling and prioritization. The interface uses a Python-based system to allow users to input tasks and dependencies. Airflow can then be used to monitor the distribution and execution of the workload. Apache Airflow was first developed at Airbnb in October 2014 by Maxime Beauchemin before being incorporated into the Apache Software Foundation in 2016. The Apache Software Foundation is an open-source program incubation project that helps support the communal development of new applications by independent programmers. Apache Airflow’s plug-in adaptability allows it to easily incorporate novel specifications. This program’s flexibility along with its approachable user interface has made Airflow popular amongst companies that deal with large data pipeline processing. Apache Airflow has been adopted for workflow orchestration by over 200 companies, including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.
