Ampleforth is a software running on Ethereum that incentivizes users to hold crypto assets with values equal to the US dollar. Ampleforth is better known as a stablecoin type of cryptocurrency with various ways to achieve price parity with other assets.
The currency differs from other stablecoins in how it maintains price stability. Currently, Ampleforth maintains stability through its software programmatically adjusting its supply of AMPL currency every twenty-four hours in a process known as "rebasing." Rebasing means that if demand for AMPL is high and the cost exceeds $1, the coin supply will increase, bringing the value back to $1; if demand is low, supply will decrease.
Ampleforth is a coin that is elastic and non-dilutive, meaning users and holders of the coin will always maintain the same percentage of coins despite fluctuations caused by rebasing. For example, if a user owned 2% of all AMPL and demand decreased, the user would still remain the owner of 2% of all the coins.
Ampleforth Governance Token (FORTH) is the native ERC-20 governance token of Ampleforth (AMPL), which is an algorithmic stablecoin with a fluctuating supply. FORTH will be used to vote on upgrades and changes of protocol parameters.
FORTH is an inflationary token that can be directly utilized or delegated to propose and vote on changes to the Ampleforth protocol. Token holders may decide to delegate their votes to representatives who will utilize the voting power on their behalf.
15 million FORTH have been minted at genesis and are available to be claimed by the community, participants and key contributors. The initial supply will be available immediately, and future inflation will be set at 2 percent annually. The allocation of FORTH token to the Ampleforth ecosystem will be distributed as follows:
- 67% of FORTH to the AMPL community.
- 33% of FORTH to early backers (e.g., the core development team, advisors, supporters and the Ampleforth Foundation).

As at January 27 2022, the total supply of FORTH is 15,000,000 and the current circulating supply is 10,275,781.99 (69%).
On April 22, 2021 the company allowed its users who interacted with AMPLE on-chain to claim FORTH governance tokens.
