K. Simmons, in full Jonathan Kimble Simmons - American character actor who had a wide-ranging and prolific career both before and after winning an Academy Award for his unnerving portrayal of the sadistic and perfectionist music instructor in Damien Chazelle’s drama Whiplash (2014).

Simmons was the son of a music teacher, and he studied music at the University of Montana (B.A., 1978). He became interested in theatre, however, and in the early 1980s he was a member of the Seattle Repertory Theatre, where he acted in such plays as The Fantasticks, Pal Joey, An Enemy of the People, and Guys and Dolls. He then moved to New York City, where he first appeared in the musical Birds of Paradise in 1987. Simmons performed on Broadway in A Change in the Heir (1990), Peter Pan (1991–92), Guys and Dolls (1992–95), and Laughter on the 23rd Floor (1993–94). He began a lengthy career playing guest roles on television shows as well as small parts in films in the mid-1990s.

In 1999 Simmons appeared in both The Cider House Rules and Sam Raimi’s baseball movie For Love of the Game. He gained broad exposure with a recurring role between 1997 and 2004 as psychiatric expert Dr. Emil Skoda on the TV series Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He won praise for his portrayal of the vicious white supremacist Vern Schillinger in the prison-drama TV series Oz (1997–2003). Simmons played the newspaper editor J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), Spider-Man 3 (2007), Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021); the first three films were directed by Raimi. Simmons appeared in Jason Reitman’s satiric film Thank You for Smoking (2005), and he portrayed the father of the title character in Reitman’s Juno (2007).

Sculpture is art that's three-dimensional and protrudes into space. Unlike two-dimensional art, many sculptures have height, width, and length. Sculpture is a very old art form that's been made by cultures around the world for centuries. The ancient Egyptians created massive stone sculptures like the Sphinx, which stands several stories high, and the classical Greeks were known for their spectacular carved stone figures.

Sculpture can be made of many materials. It can be realistic or abstract, which means it doesn't resemble anything in the natural world.

Tragedy - branch of drama that treats in a serious and dignified style the sorrowful or terrible events encountered or caused by a heroic individual. By extension the term may be applied to other literary works, such as the novel.

Although the word tragedy is often used loosely to describe any sort of disaster or misfortune, it more precisely refers to a work of art that probes with high seriousness questions concerning the role of man in the universe. The Greeks of Attica, the ancient state whose chief city was Athens, first used the word in the 5th century BCE to describe a specific kind of play, which was presented at festivals in Greece. Sponsored by the local governments, these plays were attended by the entire community, a small admission fee being provided by the state for those who could not afford it themselves. The atmosphere surrounding the performances was more like that of a religious ceremony than entertainment. There were altars to the gods, with priests in attendance, and the subjects of the tragedies were the misfortunes of the heroes of legend, religious myth, and history. Most of the material was derived from the works of Homer and was common knowledge in the Greek communities. So powerful were the achievements of the three greatest Greek dramatists—Aeschylus (525–456 BCE), Sophocles (c. 496–406 BCE), and Euripides (c. 480–406 BCE)—that the word they first used for their plays survived and came to describe a literary genre that, in spite of many transformations and lapses, has proved its viability through 25 centuries

Comedy - type of drama or other art form the chief object of which, according to modern notions, is to amuse. It is contrasted on the one hand with tragedy and on the other with farce, burlesque, and other forms of humorous amusement. The classic conception of comedy, which began with Aristotle in ancient Greece of the 4th century BCE and persists through the present, holds that it is primarily concerned with humans as social beings, rather than as private persons, and that its function is frankly corrective. The comic artist’s purpose is to hold a mirror up to society to reflect its follies and vices, in the hope that they will, as a result, be mended.

Musical theatre uses song, dance and dialogue to tell a story. The very popular genre's roots go back centuries and there are specialized roles involved in putting on a production of a modern musical.

The antecedents of the musical can be traced to a number of 19th-century forms of entertainment including the music hall, comic opera, burlesque, vaudeville, variety shows, pantomime, and the minstrel show. These early entertainments blended the traditions of French ballet, acrobatics, and dramatic interludes.
