In September 2016 China Electronics Technology Group Corporation announced the world's first long-range quantum radarquantum radar. The Chinese government claimed their quantum radar had a maximum effective range of 61 miles; making it the longest range quantum radar product in the world. In 2015 a study was published titled 'Microwave Quantum Illumination' which demonstrated a quantum radar with a maximum effective range of below 7 miles making the Chinese governments quantum radar have a maximum range that was 54 miles larger than what was previously possible.
