Yttrium is the chemical element with the atomic number 39, a rare-earth metal that is silvery-white.
Chemical element with atomic number of 39
Yttrium (chemical symbol - Y, from Lat. Yttrium) is a chemical element of the 3rd group (according to the outdated classification - the third group of the secondary subgroup, IIIB), the fifth period of the periodic system of chemical elements of D. I. Mendeleev, with atomic number 39.
The simple substance yttrium is a light silvery rare-earth transition metal. It exists in two crystal modifications: α-Y with a hexagonal lattice of the magnesium type, β-Y with a cubic volume-centered lattice of the α-Fe type, the transition temperature αββ is 1482 °C.
