Yonatan Sompolinsky

A computer scientist and expert in blockchain and its protocol.

Yonatan Sompolinsky is a PhD candidate in the Computer Science and Engineering at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is a Computer Scientist at DAGlabs. He authored various blockchain research papers, including security analyses of the Bitcoin protocol.

His research works include Networks, Algorithmic Game Theory and Bitcoin. He is under the supervision of Aviv Zohar.

His current projects focus on Bitcoin, analyzing its growth rate, security of distributed protocols, throughput and incentive dynamics, designing scalable blockchain protocols and investigating protocol modifications to enhance its performance.

He co-authored the GHOST protocol which was initially promoted by Ethereum’s white paper, the SPECTRE protocol, a paper on Optimal Selfish Mining attacks.
